The Benefits of Invisalign Over Braces
As a modern orthodontic technique, Invisalign has many advantages over traditional braces. In the past, patients may have felt self-conscious about metal braces. Since Invisalign aligners are clear, they are virtually undetectable. This feature helps patients smile with confidence in their selfies.
Traditional braces are fixed in place during the treatment period, but Invisalign braces are removable. While we encourage patients to wear them during most of their daily activities, including sleeping, we recommend removing them for brushing and flossing. This removal allows patients to clean their aligners and their teeth more thoroughly for better oral and periodontal health. Since the aligners can be cleaned more easily, patients with Invisalign don’t need to restrict their diet choices.
Wearing traditional braces can be painful. The metal wires and brackets can be abrasive in the mouth. Invisalign aligners don’t contain these components, and they’re much more comfortable. Since the aligners are all custom-made implements, created with individual patients in mind, they also tend to feel more natural in the mouth. You can experience a little tenderness when changing to a new aligner, but this feeling usually passes quickly as the mouth adjusts.
